*Art Coordinator*
*Primary Function:*
Nantucket Boys & Girls Clubs is committed to providing programs, experiences and initiatives that allow all youth to access imagination and creativity to express themselves and build connections with others in their community. The Arts programs, experiences, and initiatives fall under four categories:
● *Visual Arts *– Visual art created and judged for its beauty and meaning. It may include painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, collage, mixed media, graphics and architecture.
● *Digital Arts *– Two- or three-dimensional visual media that uses computers and other technology as an essential part of the creative process. This may include graphic design, animation, photography, movie making, Claymation, game design, music composition and digital illustration.
● *Performing Arts *– Arts that involve public performance, including playing instruments, acting, singing and dancing. This includes performance support roles, such as creating scenery, costumes, lighting and sound manipulation.
● *Applied Arts *– Any art form that applies artistic design to functional objects. This includes industrial design, bookmaking, illustration, printmaking, jewelry making, wood working, ceramics, fashion design, culinary arts, creative writing and commercial art.
*Required Skills/Abilities*
Reporting to the Program Director;
● The Art Coordinator position requires someone with a high energy level comfortable performing day to day activities. They must have the ability to use sound judgment, be flexible, tactful and mature. The Art Coordinator position requires good interpersonal skills with members, parents and staff. This position requires creativity and the ability to allow members to pursue their artistic abilities and passions in all art forms.
● Establish an art program that includes arts and crafts, music, dance, theater and cultural awareness.
● Knowledge of youth development principles and characteristics.
● Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to plan, organize and execute daily art programs for a variety of age groups.
● Evaluate and report on program activities
● Ability to work across teams and with a variety of projects and constituencies.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
*Education and Experience*
● High school diploma required, Bachelor’s in Art Education preferred, or an equivalent of education plus experience in one of the four disciplines.
*Physical Requirements*
● Ability to continuously stand or walk.
● Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently
● Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
