Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant work experience in biological fieldwork, environmental consulting, or ecological restoration (internships may count).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations such as NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act.
  • Basic proficiency in GIS, GPS data collection, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to conduct fieldwork in challenging environments and varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain base access and clearances as required.
  • Experience working in island, coastal, or tropical ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with Guam’s environmental policies, permitting processes, and local flora/fauna.
  • Experience supporting federally funded or Department of Defense (DoD) environmental projects.

Skills:

  • Ability to identify local plant and animal species.
  • Basic understanding of habitat restoration and conservation strategies.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in field and office settings.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to shifting priorities.

  • Exposure to insects and local wildlife (e.g., mosquitoes, lizards, feral pigs).
  • Possible marine-related work in intertidal zones, requiring water entry or boat access.
  • Sun exposure and risk of heat stress—protective gear, hydration, and safety awareness required.
  • Terrain may include steep cliffs, jungle trails, and rocky coastlines.
  • Office-based duties include data entry, report writing, map production, and project coordination.
