To be fully engaged in providing No Harm / Quality, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by providing athletic training care to patients, athletes and the active population within the orthopedic office setting. To provide clinical services for the overseeing physician and other support personnel to ensure a well-functioning and efficient clinic along with exceptional patient care.

Schedule:

-Monday - Friday
-Hours vary depending on when the school needs you.
-The clinic will schedule you around when you are not needed at the High School.
-You will not go over 40 hrs per week

Primary Responsibilities

Quality/No Harm:

-Working in both the Clinical and High School Athletics settings.
-High School Athletics will be the main focus and you will report to the clinic when you are not scheduled at the school.
-Providing prevention, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, while maintaining the highest standards of care.
-Responsible for Pre-Game/Practice Taping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment
-Maintain proper charts and relevant paperwork including but not limited to, allergy lists, physicals, and injury reports, and return to play progress.
-Maintain accurate records of injuries, and treatment plans as well as a list of athletes medically eligible to compete under district and state rules.
-Abides by all established policies specific to athletic training room and school.
-Maintains awareness of current Health First policies and procedures.
-Performs clinical intake by taking medical histories and vital signs, recording weight/height and verification of patient's current prescriptions.

-Prepare patient for examination and explain treatment procedures.
-Prep procedure trays and document validation of medication safety rights. Validate with ordering provider, any medication orders that are controlled high risk, or when there are questions on the medications ordered prior to administering.
-Apply proper infection prevention techniques to all self-care and patient procedures.
-Clean exam rooms and equipment, and exposure supply inventories are maintained at par levels.
-Dispense and educate patients with proper use of DME fittings, braces, walkers, and slings.
-Application and remove of casting.
-Provide pre-and post-surgery rehabilitation guidance to patients.
-Assist with staple and suture removal.

Customer Experience:

-Communicates with athletes, parents, athletic director, coaches, and team physician regarding athletes' playing status and ability to return to competition. All communication must be done within adherence to HIPPA laws and confidentiality standards.
-Referring athletes for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking.
-Acting as a liaison between family physicians and specialists, coaches, athletes and their parents.
-Prepares athlete for treatment and insures comfort and safety of athletes.
-Informs athletes guardians of important aspects of athlete's present condition, including concussions, wound care, first aide, and follow-up care.
-Applies customer service techniques of "managing up", explaining delays and use of the Health First Connections scripting in internal and external interactions.
-Provide customer follow up and educate to ensure customers' participation in their care showing respect for their needs.
-Adjust communication to meet the customers' needs, expectations, age, culture, and individual differences.
-Coordinate follow up appointment with providers' office.

Stewardship:

-Must report for event coverage and meetings at designated time.
-Adheres to proper work schedule.
-Create proper documentation of injury status and rehabilitation.


Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in athletic training from CAATE Accredited program required (MS degree preferred)

2. Clinical orthopedic experience, Athletic Training orthopedic residency program experience a plus

3. BOC certification and licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in the State of Florida

4. AHA BLS CPR certified and maintain.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:(ADA, Travel, Environment, Noise)

-Must be able to assist with or transfer athletes of various weight/heights
-Must be able to push carts with athletic equipment on them.
-Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills and be able to walk long -distances.
-Must demonstrate ability to communicate to give adequate directions and instructions to subordinates.
-Must be able to carry training kit and coolers for long distance
