The Database Administrator is responsible for database administration activities, ensuring optimal performance, integrity, and security of database systems. This role involves the installation, configuration, and management of database systems and related software, as well as performing both logical and physical database design. The Database Administrator is responsible for managing database objects, defining access, and ensuring security. This role involves developing corporate database strategies, managing Database Management Systems (DBMS), and consulting with applications analysts and end-users to implement databases and access information. They maintain database performance and ensure data integrity, quality, and reliability.
The role involves close collaboration across various technical and business teams, providing technical support and expertise. The Database Administrator develops and documents system configurations, department processes, and prepares reports and metrics on system performance. Job Duties
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Entry-level position. Familiarity with Database Management Systems (DBMS) and general database support is expected.
Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
Responsibility: Assists in managing and controlling database objects and access. Participates in database optimization and troubleshooting under some supervision.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in managing DBMS, database optimization, and troubleshooting.
Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
Responsibility: Independently manages DBMS and assists in developing database strategies. Begins to take on more complex database optimization and troubleshooting tasks.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years in managing DBMS, database optimization, and troubleshooting.
Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
Responsibility: Independently manages DBMS, develops database strategies, and conducts database optimization and troubleshooting. Begins to lead small projects and works closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of databases.
Database Administrator IV
Experience: Minimum of 6 years in managing DBMS, database optimization, and troubleshooting.
Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
Responsibility: Leads projects for the development of database strategies and management of DBMS. Takes on a leadership role in database optimization and troubleshooting, and provides technical support across the IT function.
