Live-In Caretaker - $50,000 - $70,000/Year

We are seeking a compassionate and technologically proficient live-in caretaker to provide comprehensive support for a 45-year-old individual who is visually impaired and experiencing cognitive challenges due to a medical condition. The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding, and capable of providing both physical and emotional support, while also possessing strong technological skills to assist with daily digital tasks. This position requires the caretaker to live in the residence, and to provide care during the standard weekday working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with availability for overnight support as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Personal Care and Support:
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, including meal preparation, medication reminders, and transportation to appointments.
  • Ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Assist with navigating the home and outdoor spaces, utilizing a walking stick when necessary.
• Medical and Appointment Management:
  • Monitor and manage the individual's appointment schedule using Google Calendar.
  • Provide transportation to and from medical appointments.
  • Communicate with medical professionals and family members as needed.
• Technological Assistance:
  • Provide daily assistance with email management, including clearing and organizing emails.
  • Assist with navigating and using a smartphone and other electronic devices.
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues.
• Emotional and Cognitive Support:
  • Provide emotional support and companionship.
  • Assist with managing anxiety and emotional regulation challenges.
  • Offer gentle redirection when the individual becomes fixated on tasks.
  • Be aware and able to respond to the effects of the individuals condition, including but not limited to, low vision, energy fluctuations, and changes in body temperature.
• Household Management:
  • Maintain a clean and organized living space.
  • Meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• Family Interaction:
  • Be comfortable around children, as the individual's children visit regularly.
  • Be able to maintain professional boundaries with the family, and respond to the direction of the health care proxy and the mother of the individual.
• Communication:
  • Maintain open and clear communication with the individual, family, and healthcare professionals.
• Schedule:
  • Primary care will be provided Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • The caretaker must live in the residence, and be available for overnight support as needed.

Requirements:

• Experience in caregiving or a related field.
• Strong technological skills and familiarity with smartphones, computers, and email.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and understanding.
• Ability to provide clear and calm verbal cues.
• Ability to manage and adhere to schedules.
• Ability to meal prep.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Comfortable with a live-in arrangement.
• Ability to work designated weekday hours, and be available for overnight assistance.
• A valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

Compensation:

• Annual salary range: $50,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience.
• Private bedroom and bathroom provided.
• Flexible time off of 4 hours per day.
