Summary/objective

We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking IT Director to lead the planning, execution, and oversight of our organization’s information technology operations. This role is pivotal in safeguarding the company’s data and systems, ensuring high performance and reliability of IT infrastructure, and guiding our technological vision to support business growth. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cybersecurity, data governance, and IT operations, along with the leadership skills necessary to collaborate with senior executives and drive innovation.

Essential functions

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Oversee security audits, risk assessments, and incident response planning.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams on data protection strategies.

Data Governance & Management

  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data governance frameworks.
  • Define and enforce data quality standards, metadata management, and classification practices.
  • Partner with business units to align data strategy with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure secure and ethical use of data assets across departments.

System Maintenance & Implementation

  • Lead the implementation and lifecycle management of key enterprise systems and platforms.
  • Oversee IT service management processes, including incident, change, and problem management.
  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance through proactive monitoring and upgrades.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and SLA compliance.

IT Infrastructure Advancement

  • Evaluate and advance infrastructure architecture, including cloud, networking, storage, and end-user technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for modernization and automation.
  • Lead infrastructure projects including cloud migrations, server consolidations, and disaster recovery planning.

Strategic Leadership & Executive Advising

  • Serve as a key technology advisor to executive leadership.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights.
  • Foster a high-performance IT team through mentorship and professional development.
  • Lead the development and implementation of technology milestones within the Strategic Plan.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage comprehensive IT financial plans, budgets, and forecasts aligned with strategic objectives
  • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints.

Supervisory responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional IT team.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations to promote accountability and growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that supports innovation and continuous improvement.

Work environment

The work environment is standard indoor office environment. T

Physical demands

Position is primarily sitting, keyboarding with occasional walking, and standing. Lifting 25 lbs. or greater equipment, while at course site, is common.

Travel required

AO NA operates in a results-only work environment and allows for a distributed workforce. This position requires the employee to be in the office as needed for training, meetings, and events. The travel for the work environment is standard airline travel and hotel/convention center indoor environment. A valid passport is required for any international travel.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5 years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 3 in a senior role.
  • Proven track record in cybersecurity, IT governance, and enterprise system implementations.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), networking, and cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, or PMP are a plus.
  • Prior supervisory experience
