Job Description

About Us:

CWA Group is a commercial architecture, planning, and design firm located in Norman, Oklahoma that serves K–12 school districts, colleges, career technology centers, municipalities, counties, and religious facilities in the state of Oklahoma and surrounding region. Whether designing new spaces or revitalizing existing ones, we are committed to delivering exceptional design that reflects our clients’ vision while enhancing functionality, safety, and long-term value. We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Architect I with 2-5 years of experience to join the CWA Group team.

Job Description:

As a Project Architect I, you will support the design, coordination, and technical documentation of architectural projects from schematic design through construction. This licensed role is ideal for an architect early in their career who is ready to take on more responsibility for project coordination while still receiving guidance from senior-level staff. You will work closely with internal team members, clients, and consultants to help ensure that projects are well-coordinated, code-compliant, and aligned with client goals, budgets, and schedules. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow into a greater leadership role within our firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design process from conceptual design through construction documents under the guidance of Senior Project Architects and Project Managers.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project tasks, including drawing production, documentation, and basic detailing.
  • Prepare construction documents, drawings, and specifications using Revit and other design tools.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and vendors to support project goals and maintain design intent.
  • Conduct code and product research to support design and technical decisions.
  • Participate in project meetings, including coordination meetings and occasional client presentations.
  • Assist in preparing and updating project schedules, scopes of work, and other project documentation.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs with guidance from Senior Project Architects.
  • Conduct site visits and field observations to help monitor project progress and quality.
  • Uphold CWA Group’s standards for design quality, documentation, and client service on all assigned tasks.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Active architectural license in the state of Oklahoma (or eligibility for reciprocity).
  • Approximately 2–5 years of professional experience in architectural practice.
  • Experience contributing to the design and documentation of small to mid-size projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with AutoCAD; experience with visualization tools (SketchUp, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, building systems, and construction processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with educational and public-sector architecture.
  • Familiarity with project management or construction administration platforms (e.g., ProCore).
  • Experience with sustainable design principles; LEED accreditation is a plus.
  • Interest in growing into a Project Architect II and, ultimately, a Senior Project Architect role within the firm.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including paid time off; 401(k) retirement plan with employer match; company-paid medical, life, and long-term disability insurance; dental, vision, and short-term disability insurance options; parental leave, flexible work arrangements; and more.
  • A collaborative and design-forward culture that values innovation, mentorship, and creativity.
  • Professional development opportunities for leadership, continued education, and career advancement.
  • Engaging work on a variety of meaningful and diverse projects that serve the public good, from new construction to historic preservation.

CWA Group is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all.

How to Apply:

If you are ready to bring your design expertise to a dynamic and growing firm, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a portfolio showcasing your recent design work to careers@cwa.group .
