Position Overview:
. At 100% time, a reasonable estimate of salary for this position is $72,404 (at a 71% appointment-five courses over three quarters-this would be $51,407).

The Department of English offers new PhD graduates from the UC Davis English Department the opportunity to apply for one-year appointments in the department as Recent PhD Lecturers. This program is housed entirely within the English Department, and we will assign Recent PhD Lecturers exclusively to English courses.
The primary purpose of these appointments is to help new PhDs become more competitive in the job market by gaining additional teaching experience in literature courses, additional time to begin converting a dissertation into a book or preparing articles for publication, and/or time to prepare for and seek employment outside the academy. The number of positions and the percentage of time offered for the year will depend upon funding and the number of courses available. These Recent PhD Lecturer appointments are for one year only. Those hired in this role would need to re-apply in subsequent years if they wished to pursue further Unit 18 employment.
Appointment percentage and number of courses assigned will vary based on the number of courses available that an applicant is qualified to teach.
