Regional Executive Underwriter - Commercial
QUICK FACTS
Location: HYBRID- Spokane, WA (Remote eligible in WA or OR)
Pay: $75K-$125K
Permanent position
EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED
~7+ years in commercial underwriting; ideally handling $5M–$8M in premium (mix of large and smaller accounts)
~ Strong property background is essential. Casualty and auto experience is a plus
~ Brings solid agency relationships in Washington and Oregon (highly preferred); the Portland area is especially desirable for coverage
~ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook
~ Completion of technical insurance coursework preferred, such as CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM or CIC
~ Comfortable with direct communication—not solely reliant on email or text
~ Desire to mentor or train junior underwriters and eventually move into a leadership role
MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB
Manage large and complex accounts, and build strong, trust-based relationships with agencies, working with top tier and middle tier agents on production and relationship management
Review individual submissions for Commercial lines to evaluate risk attributes, pricing, and business fit
Make regular production calls and develop new business production
Serve as a go-to resource on the team for peers
Travel regularly within the region to meet agencies
