Portable Long Service Authority

Applications close Wednesday 19 March 2025 at 11.59PM

Overview

Work type: Full time Salary: $76,817 - $93,275 Grade: VPSG3 Occupation: Regulatory Governance and Compliance Location: CBD Reference: VG/1848552

The role of the Regulatory Officer is to support the Employer Regulation team's regulatory approach of ensuring all employers fully comply with their legislative obligations under the Long Service Benefits Portability Act (the Act) and related regulations.

About Us

The Portable Long Service Authority (the Authority) is a self-funded statutory body established to administer the Long Service Benefits Portability Act 2018. The Act, together with the Long Service Benefits Portability Regulations 2020 provide a Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme. The Authority plays an important role in allowing workers in the community services, contract cleaning and security industries to build up long service benefits based on time in their industry rather than with a single employer. We foster an inclusive and collaborative culture that celebrates achievements and allows everyone to contribute to our success.

About The Role

The role of the Employer Regulation team is to support the Authority's regulatory approach of ensuring all employers fully comply with their legislative obligations under the Long Service Benefits Portability Act (the Act) and related regulations.

The Regulatory Officer sits within the Employer Regulation team and is responsible for:

  • Understanding how the Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme covers employers and their workers and to provide authoritative guidance to employers on their regulatory obligations.
  • Liaising with employers and actioning matters that have been escalated regarding the application of the Scheme, particularly regarding worker entitlements.
  • Triage of ‘Report an Employer' complaints, including desktop analysis, assessments and engagement with employers.
  • Communicating with employers, reviewing their responses and documents, ensuring accurate worker reporting, and identifying cases for investigation.

About You

To become a critical member of this newly established team, you will have well developed skills that include,

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and make assessments of facts against a legislative/regulatory framework.
  • Sound analytical skills and a solutions mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to form strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve resolutions.
  • Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure, both autonomously and collaboratively within team settings
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining accurate case management data/records

Why work at the Authority

  • Keen to be part of an evolving regulator protecting workers entitlements and ensuring all employers are compliant with their obligations.
  • We value work-life balance and offer hybrid working options, including two days of work from home per week.
  • You can benefit from above award wages and annual salary increases under the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement
  • Your well-being is important to us, which is why we offer a free and confidential Employee Assistance Program, as well as other health and well-being initiatives
