POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT, marine and fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of R/RShiny Application Developer to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The R/RShiny Application Developer will create and maintain interactive web-based applications using R and RShiny to facilitate data visualization, reporting, and decision-making for the Protected Species Division. This role is key in making complex datasets accessible to a wide range of users, including researchers, managers, and the public.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build user-friendly interactive RShiny applications to visualize spatial, ecological, and telemetry data.
• Work with scientists to develop tools for custom analysis, reporting, and exploration of survey data.
• Perform database integration and manage data flow between RShiny and Oracle/SQL backends.
• Implement front-end design improvements and ensure cross-platform compatibility.
• Provide documentation and user support for developed tools.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in statistics, computer science, ecology, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience working with distribution models, remote sensing data, AI/ML techniques, Oracle database design, web design or fisheries data
• Strong proficiency in R and RShiny development.
• Strong statistical and programming background (R, Splus, SAS, Python, C++ or similar software).
• Knowledge of ecological, oceanographic, or wildlife telemetry datasets is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills
