Tax Preparer

Location: Concord , CA

Salary Range: $80-105k

Full Time, Remote/Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join a stable, full-service tax firm committed to providing personalized solutions for every client’s needs. As a Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for preparing and filing a wide range of tax documents while offering top-tier service to our diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Preparation & Filing: Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax documents, including individual and business returns, extensions, and quarterly payments.
  • Client 8000 Support: Communicate directly with clients to resolve outstanding financial issues and provide ongoing bookkeeping services.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliation: Review general ledger accounts, perform bank reconciliations, and ensure records are up-to-date for tax filings.
  • Payroll & 1099 Preparation: Oversee payroll setup through third-party platforms and facilitate 1099 form preparation, including TIN matching and reviewing team submissions.
  • Tax Extensions: Prepare tax extensions as needed, assess client financials to determine liabilities, and communicate payment obligations before deadlines.
  • Special Projects: Analyze financial data for special projects and support the tax team with year-end activities.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements while maintaining accurate and timely business documentation.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License required.
  • 5+ years of experience in preparing individual and business tax forms.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements for individual and business tax filings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel; experience with Lacerte, UltraTax, or Drake Software is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Ability to thrive in an independent work environment.
