Job Description

Are you ready to make a difference? At Greenlight Guru, our leading SaaS platform helps some of the world’s most innovative medical device companies bring higher quality, life-changing products to market faster. Our cloud-based technology serves 1000+ global customers with a platform that powers end-to-end product lifecycle excellence from idea to commercialization to postmarket surveillance.

Headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, we are a remote-first company on a mission to improve the quality of life. Having raised over $120M from top-tier investors, we are rapidly scaling with a driven and relentless commitment to helping our customers succeed. Since 2021, we have been part of JMI Equity, a growth equity firm focused on leading software companies.

About this role:

We are hiring a dynamic Principal Product Designer to join our Product and Design Team. As the Principal Product Designer, you will be responsible for driving the overall user experience and design strategy for our suite of products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Managers, Engineers, Customer Success and Marketing—to create user-centered designs that are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with the strategic goals of the business. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform by ensuring that it meets the unique needs of healthcare professionals and administrators while also delivering exceptional user experiences.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for contributing to some of the most used product areas, mentoring designers, setting design standards, and advocating for best practices across the organization.

Your contributions and responsibilities:

Design Leadership:

  • Lead and inspire a team of designers, ensuring high-quality work and maintaining consistency across the entire product suite.
  • Champion design thinking, user-centered design principles, and innovation across all product touchpoints.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to define the product roadmap, user stories, and overall design vision.

Product Design Strategy:

  • Lead the end-to-end design process for complex, enterprise-level products, from research and ideation to prototyping and final execution.
  • Drive product innovation by understanding and interpreting user needs, business goals, and market trends to inform the design direction.
  • Own the design process for large, complex, and strategic features, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.

Mentorship and Team Development:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level designers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
  • Establish design standards, patterns, and best practices that drive consistency, scalability, and quality across products.
  • Conduct design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure the design team’s output aligns with the company’s brand and strategic goals.

User Research and Testing:

  • Lead user research initiatives to gather insights from healthcare professionals, administrators, and other stakeholders to inform design decisions.
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and wireframes to visualize complex workflows and identify pain points in the user experience.
  • Conduct usability testing, analyze results, and iterate designs based on feedback to ensure the highest quality product.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Product Managers to define and prioritize features based on customer needs, business impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure the seamless translation of designs into fully functioning, high-performance software.
  • Communicate design decisions and rationale to executives, stakeholders, and other teams to align on vision and expectations.

Design Systems:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of a unified design system that supports product scalability and efficiency.
  • Ensure consistency in the visual and interaction design language across all products and platforms.

Your ideal qualifications:

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Product Designer with a strong portfolio that demonstrates your ability to design complex SaaS products, particularly in the enterprise space.
  • Proven experience leading design teams and projects in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Experience working on B2B products
  • Expertise in user-centered design, interaction design, and visual design principles.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Protopie).
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how design works within these constraints.
  • Deep knowledge of user research methods (user interviews, surveys, usability testing, A/B testing, etc.).
  • Ability to craft and maintain a design system that balances consistency with flexibility.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly to non-design stakeholders.
  • A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating intuitive, high-quality user experiences.

Benefits you’ll enjoy:

  • Supportive teammates and co-workers who care deeply about our mission
  • Flexible Paid Time Off policy and working hours
  • Home Office stipend for new hires
  • Health insurance options include a 100% company-paid plan (vision, medical, dental)
  • 401k (with company match)
  • Equity Program Eligibility (based on role and/or tenure)
  • Three months of paid maternity leave
  • Disability insurance

This role will be located within a commutable distance of Indianapolis, Atlanta, Chicago, New York OR Boston areas. The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $150,000. Actual base salary is determined by factors such as, but not limited to, experience, education, skills, and geographic location. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation and equity.
